Fate
Had you never graced this earth,
ne'er would your Fate exist.
Your dreams would pass unrealized.
Your potential lost to mist.
Rain could not caress your face
to wash away the tears.
Laugh lines would never frame those eyes
to testify your years.
Your love would wander aimlessly
in an ether so unkind,
unfulfilled for all eternity:
The beauty of your mind.
No solace could you offer,
if you never were.
No home to fill with happiness.
No heartache to endure.
Sunshine would never warm your flesh.
No child would you hold.
On no lover could you bestow your touch,
if ever you felt bold.
All colors merely shades of gray
without you to set them free.
A sweet voice condemned to silence
can not sing life's melodies.
But Fate has secrets not revealed,
your story still unfolds.
You'll write the final draft yourself
as Fate is yours to mold.

Moonlit (an Aubade)
Reckless moonlit passion
burns so very bright.
As two young, earnest lovers
allow their fancy to take flight.
They are lost to any decency .
Maintain no common sense.
Of restraint there is no attempt
at misguided semblance.
They revel in sensation.
Unmindful. Time draws nigh.
Nature’s trumpets blaze the dawning.
She hears nothing but his cries.
Awareness stirs, she starts to feel
her wayward dreaming slip away.
Satisfaction lost like stars of night
to the stark reality of day.
“I protest!” She shrieks toward the night
“To leave me in this state is wrong!”
She turns to find her lover, but
like the night, he’s done and gone.
