If it shines truly,
if it's right,
love will guide
through darkest night.

Never Would I Whisper

I must speak to you
my silence.
Words
never
ever
would I whisper
if not a soul would hear.
Free of discovery.
Protected from censure.
Safe.

Yet, being words,
they clamor
against constraint.
Begging to be uttered.
Spilling forth
like silken hair
found suddenly
unrestrained.

Contrary to my wishes,
your acquaintance
they would make.
Shadowed nuance I let escape
to ease the burden of emotion
too keenly felt.
Still I will not speak.
If you would know them,
their introduction must be made
upon a page.

Those Boys

Darkness blankets the silence
of a world still fast asleep
as they were thrust rudely from dreams unrealized.
Those boys.
Alone in air so cold it's a trial
drawing breath.
Eternity stretches out before them
as they walk the road of the condemned,
never bothering to cast a longing
look back for escape.
Drudgery will fill the hours for them now.
They trudge grimly
as if this day were their last.
The joy of their youth,
far in the past.
All eyes are downcast as
they head off to school.

Fluid. Silent.
I see melodies glisten.
Hot breath, cold air
I had the sight to listen

Not the First

when I opened my eyes

as I lay my head down

Moonlight bathes your face

Fulfilling me becomes you

Tousled hair. I sleep.

If Only

Lowered lashes
I hid my need
Did wait for you
to take the lead

Longing strong
as was my pride
I could not draw you
to my side

I did not know
I could not see
that you couldn't get
enough of me

If you had dared
show your desire
I would have lit
your world on fire

My shoulder would
not now be cold
If only you
